Sediments Sampling of Selected Major Rivers in Cavite (FY 2022)
Started: June 13, 2022
The Supreme Court issued an Order, namely the Operational Plan for the Manila Bay Coastal Strategy (OPMBCS), whose primary goal is to clean, rehabilitate, and restore the Manila Bay with help from various shareholders such as the Local Government Unit (LGU).
The pollution in the waters of Manila Bay contains several solid and liquid wastes that are toxic and hazardous, not only to the marine life in Manila Bay but also to the community near the area. Water pollution is not the only cause for the weak status of Manila Bay; sediments that flow from the rivers and creeks that might contain heavy metals can also worsen the contamination of the bay. One of the river channels connected to Manila is the rivers of the Cavite area.
This study will help improve the Water Quality of Manila Bay through qualification and analysis of heavy metals in the sediments collected from the selected significant rivers of Cavite.
