The Province of Capiz has a total land area of 263,317 hectares representing 13% of the total land area of Western Visayas and 0.9% of the Philippines' total land area. It has 93,769.73 hectares of forestland and 169,547.27 hectares of Alienable and Disposable (A&D) lands. Located at the heart of the Philippine archipelago, on the northeast portion of Panay Island, Capiz is one of the four provinces that comprise Panay Island.
The province of Capiz has a total target of 17,333.50 hectares in area planted and was able to accomplish 17,646.56 hectares or 102.45% from CY 2011-2019 under the National Greening Program (NGP). For Calendar Year 2020, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Capiz has a total target of 5,321 hectares.
The Reforestation Management Plan will be used to assess the reforestation programs under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Province of Capiz over the years and its success in its stated objectives in mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change on forest resources and the natural environment. Furthermore, this plan seeks to develop recommendations to improve reforestation activities in light of the province's NGP.
