The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) launched the National Greening Program (NGP) under Executive Order No. 26, dated February 24, 2011, to mitigate climate change and improve the economic and environmental conditions of the country.
The DENR field offices, in coordination and consultation with POs, civil society organizations (CSOs), LGUs, and other national government agencies (NGAs) concerned, conducted the following activities: watershed planning, survey mapping, preparing the site plan, and setting of targets, seedling production (including establishing and maintaining clonal nurseries), plantation establishment (site preparation, tree planting), maintenance and protection, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.
A total of 106,929.21 hectares was accomplished, with a total of 72,291,841 planted seedlings, 967 involved POs, and other partners in Region 3. The Province of Bataan achieved a total of 4,516.00 hectares. CELPA, Inc. conducted the assessment of the established plantations under a Memorandum of Agreement with PENRO Bataan.
